This book provides a very complete discussion off the oil and gas-bearing formations, geology, fossils in this region of the coastal plain of eastern Texas, as well as exploration, characteristics, and production from the oil and gas areas. The area is huge, extending from just north of Uvalde to Brownsville. The large color map shows the entire area. The other pocket maps show oil and gas areas with contours of the productive fields in red lines. Some are fairly large. The fossils are mostly gastropods, pelecypods, cephalopods, and fossil leaves. There is a nice mix of cool fossils from the area and the plates look really nice. The area also has some salt domes which are discussed in the text.
This is a great book for the geology, maps, descriptions of many areas, fossil photos, and also because there is a good bit of history in its pages. A cool, old, scarce book, nice to find complete with all the maps.
