Up for auction is an
Antq unused Newborn Size Wrap-A-Round Cotton Top w/ Side Tabs w/ one Side Slit. Either my great-grandmother or grandmother put this away years ago. The elasticity of the fabric makes me think this is newer, maybe the 1920's, rather than turn of the century. The sleeves are 6" long, it is 9" tall, it is 5 3/4" from armpit to armpit and is adjustable and could be let out to 6 1/2" across the chest. There is some fancy ornate stitching around the neck and the side slit. There is machine edge stitching on the lower hem and sleeve cuffs.

I don't think this little newborn top was ever used since there are no spit-up stains on it. There are approximately 9 little 1/4" vertical splits in the fabric that have something to do with the elastic in the fabric.
